A Comprehensive Guide on What You Can Expect as You Explore Your Spirituality

Asé spiritual fam, and welcome! So, you think you’re ready to begin your spiritual journey? Spirituality has become exponentially popular in the last couple of years courtesy of the COVID-19 pandemic and TikTok. It’s important to understand that true spirituality is not a trend and it takes dedication and self-work in order to truly understand the information that you’re about to learn. So, without further adieu, we’ve created a basic guide to help get you started with realistic expectations as you embark upon your spiritual journey.

Expect Loss

This one is at the top of our list for a reason. If you’re serious about leaning into your spirituality, you must accept the fact and

be prepared to lose, let go, and release what no longer serves you. This loss can manifest in many forms including, but not limited to: loss of relationships: family, friendships, romantic relationships, jobs, etc.

Gratitude is Key

You’ve probably heard the saying, “the more you give, the more you receive”, and this is so true in the spiritual community. When you have gratitude and are thankful for what you already have, you’re automatically raising your vibration to a higher level. Being thankful for what you have will allow your mind to focus on your goals instead of the things you think you’re lacking in your life. Where you focus your energy will determine what you manifest. If you constantly live in a fear mindset of worrying about finances, love, your career, etc., you will naturally attract more of the things that you worry about. Starting a gratitude journal is a great place to start. You’d be surprised how many blessings you already have!

Nothing is Going to Change Overnight

 Patience is one of the most important factors for anyone’s spiritual journey. Becoming enlightened, woke, and raising your vibrations involves hard work. If you don’t know what raising your vibrations means, we recommend you start there. In spirituality, everything is energy, so it’s important to understand the lingo. Old habits must be broken to form new ones that align with your spirit’s purpose. Set your intentions and trust the process. We are all divine beings, but we must put in the work in order to get to know your ancestors in the spiritual realm. You’ll find that your ancestors may be very different in the spiritual realm than they were here in the physical world, which leads us to our next point...

Always Remain the Student

Remaining coachable and open minded to feedback, other opinions, and doing your own research are going to be an integral part of your spiritual journey. Learning & mastering patience and your ego are two of the most challenging things because we are all governed by how we were raised. Each of us comes from a diverse background and family with equally as diverse beliefs. Challenging what you’ve learned is a hard and sometimes exhausting process. You should expect to spend a lot of time doing your own research, whether that be mapping out your birth chart to taking a DNA test to learn more about your ancestral roots, the answers you seek will not be handed to you. 

Beware of Fake Spiritualists

We strongly caution you to do your due diligence to fact check the information you’re researching. Unfortunately, some creators are simply creating for likes & follows rather than genuine spiritual enlightenment. Just because a TikTok video has hundreds of thousands of likes/views/shares does NOT mean that the information in the video is accurate or truthful. Peeping the comments and doing your own in depth research to determine if these spirituals are legit should become common practice as you navigate your journey. 

Energy Vampires

Have you ever heard of the phrase “haters are just undercover fans”? If not, we’re here to tell you that that’s exactly the case any time you’re trying to level yourself up in the world. Beware of the information you share online because people can be true energy vampires and drain you of your energy. Think of anytime you’ve seen a friend post on Facebook asking for prayers - not everyone is going to send positive prayers. In fact, some people may intentionally wish to see your downfall. Our words whether they’re written, verbal, or internal have an immense power to speak things into existence. Exercise strong boundaries and lean into your intuition whenever interacting with people. If someone is reaching out to you on social media telling you that you’re hexed, asking for money, or anything along these lines, you should immediately have your guard up. Know the difference between people praying for you and prey-ing for you. 

Duality: The Importance of Yin & Yang

There cannot be good without the bad. As you explore your spiritual journey, you’ll learn the beauty of duality. Learn to look at your mistakes as lessons, closed doors as new opportunities. One must give freely, with no expectations, in order to receive. When you open your heart and open your mind to how truly connected we all are as beings, everything slowly begins to click. There has always been a struggle between good and evil, and it’s up to us to choose where we want to vibrate. 

Listen to the Universe

The universe communicates with us in many ways; synchronicity in numbers is one of spirit’s favorite ways of communicating. Seeing the same numbers over and over again, such as 111, 333, 555, 11:11am/pm, 1:23am/pm, etc. are signs that your spirit guides and/or ancestors are trying to send you a message. Simply seeing these numbers once is not enough - you must be seeing these numbers on multiple occurrences throughout a given day or week. There’s a delicate balance of being able to recognize when something is a true sign or not, and this directly correlates with your relationship with yourself and how much you know yourself. Spirituality is like a diet - there is no “one size fits all” approach. Any time you’re seeing synchronicities in the universe whether it’s repetitive angel numbers or repetitive themes/messages, pay attention to your thoughts. Are your thoughts aligned with your intentions?
